Sarbanes-Oxley and Oracle ERP Applications: Are you ready?

We focus on critical Change Management (CM) processes and infrastructure that are now mandated to support compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404. At the same time, these capabilities will better equip a company's Program Management Office (PMO) and Application Support Organization (ASO) with the necessary controls to facilitate the planning, executing, analyzing, and tracking of changes to Enterprise Application software. Our experience has shown that the PMO in most companies focuses on project planning and resource management, but may not be aware of the software change control requirements for Enterprise Applications. Sarbanes Oxley requirements will add to this but the solution is not mutually exclusive.

How can you reduce the Risk of Change to your ERP Applications?

Our CM approach is to follow a well-defined Software Configuration Management (SCM) release process (from development through testing to production) that is tightly coupled with Business Process Ownership. We team with Business Process Owners, Application Development and IT Production Support organizations to map and implement CM processes. With a focus on ERP Applications, we refer to these areas of CM as Application Change Management (ACM).

Its not just about reducing risk…it's about improving change efficiencies…

ACM greatly benefits those functional and technical people who own the day-to-day responsibility for managing the changes to your ERP Applications, from issuing and managing software change requests (SCR), to promoting the changes out to the various application environments; changes which are implemented through or as part of a company's PMO or Application Support Organization. The core of ACM consists of integrated processes and infrastructure that address the areas of Issue Management (Level 2 Support), Source Code Management (Version Control) and Release Management (Promotions). All three areas are needed for Sarbanes Oxley compliance.

Learn how you can implement an Application Change Management (ACM) framework to better manage, and in some cases automate, ERP changes.

Unmanaged Change Events are the single largest factor that affects the stability of any ERP implementation. As an ERP Applications Manager, you are faced with change issues from all sides: users, management, software vendors, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc. When you prepare for a new ERP implementation, or an ERP upgrade, the application change management processes you have in place will help you manage change during the implementation or upgrade, and also manage the changes that commonly occur after your implementation.
